How do I register for/enroll in a course?

  • You will find information regarding enrollment process in each course section located on the osuonline.okstate.edu website.
  • OR, If this is your first time taking an OSU outreach course, complete the Outreach Admission/Registration form and fax or e-mail it to the Outreach office providing the course you want to take.
  • OR, you may go by the outreach department and fill out the Outreach Admission/Registration form.

How do I drop a course?

  • Deadlines for dropping courses can be found on the short course schedule.
  • Before the end of open enrollment period (when you can drop/add with 100% refund), you may drop your course on SIS
  • After the end of open enrollment the student will need to fill out the drop form and take to the appropriate outreach department.

What is O-Key?

  • O-Key is a personal account management system on OSU’s computing system that contains your OSU student information. By logging into O-Key, you can access information such as your user-name, password, e-mail address, contact information and CWID. The O-Key system also gives you the option of using the university-supported e-mail system or forwarding your OSU e-mail to an account of your choice. Visit the O-Key System for more information.

What is a CWID?

  • CWID, or Campus Wide ID, is your student identification number. You can find it on your O-Key account.

What is SIS?

  • SIS, or Student Information Services, is a student’s personal information portal, containing information on payments, enrollment, addresses and phone numbers on record, transcripts, and more. OSU assigns such a portal to each student. Students can log in at http://prodosu.okstate.edu using their O-Key user-name and password.

What is Desire2Learn?

  • Desire2Learn, also called D2L or Online Classroom, is a Web-based program that enables students to communicate with each other and their professors through discussion boards, submit assignments, download lectures, see their grades, and more – all in one place! Access to Desire2Learn requires students to log in using their O-Key user-name and password. Access is provided to students at no additional cost. You also might want to read the Desire2Learn Information Sheet.

When will I have access to Desire2Learn?

  • If you enrolled several weeks before the semester, you will have access to course information on Desire2Learn about a week before the semester your course begins. If you enrolled after the beginning of the semester, it may take several days for your Desire2Learn account to be activated.

Who do I call for technical need help?

  • Should you have any technical questions or experience any difficulties, the OSU IT Helpdesk is available to help. You can contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk@okstate.edu, (405)-744-HELP [4357] or 877-951-4836 [toll-free]. Visit help.okstate.edu for more information.

What delivery methods are available for distance courses?

  • Online – Course materials are available 24/7 on the internet. Lectures and other video materials may be video streamed. A high-speed internet connection is required. Instructor/student communication may be by email or telephone.
  • Compressed Video – This is talkback TV delivery and students have access to a studio or compressed video equipment. This is synchronous delivery and classes meet at specific days/times. Students and instructors interact directly.
  • CD-Rom/DVD – Lectures are mailed to the student. Student/Instructor communication may be by email or telephone.

How do I participate in the class?

  • You MUST login to your online course on or before the first day of class and read the syllabus. You may have assignments or tests during the first week. Many times work missed may not be made up later.

Will the professor contact me?

  • Not always. Log in to your D2L course page.

When and how often do I need to participate?

  • This depends on the instructor. Please refer to the course syllabus.

Where do I get my books?

  • Books may be purchased from the OSU bookstore or any online vendor.

Where do I take tests?

  • Some, but not all, distance learning courses require proctored exams. See the individual course sections for specific instructions.

How do I find a proctor?

  • If you need a proctor or testing center, you MUST complete a Proctor Agreement form and return it to the Outreach office. If a testing center is required, on-campus students may use Independent Study testing center in 309 Wes Watkins Center, 4-5 days before the exam to schedule an appointment. Telephone 405-744-6390. The fee for this service is $10 per exam and it will be charged to your Bursar account. Off-campus students may use a testing center at any nearby college, university, community college or vocational-technical school. Fees vary from school to school. Feel free to find the center with the lowest fee in your area.

How do I check my grades?

  • You can check your grades on SIS by logging in at http://prodosu.okstate.edu/ using your O-Key user-name and password. Once you log in to student services, select the appropriate term (i.e., Spring, Summer or Fall) and then select the "Grades" option under the "Student Records" drop-down menu at the top.

How do I submit homework?

  • Instructions for submitting homework will be available on your D2L course page and in the syllabus.

How do I check my grades?

  • You can check your grades on SIS by logging in at http://prodosu.okstate.edu/ using your O-Key user-name and password. Once you log in to student services, select the appropriate term (i.e., Spring, Summer or Fall) and then select the “Grades” option under the “Student Records” drop-down menu at the top.

How much is the course and are there fees?

  • Outreach courses vary in cost and associated fees.Please see individual course for cost details.

Does financial aid apply?

  • Maybe. Information on financial aid, scholarship opportunities and loans are available through the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at www.okstate.edu/finaid. Also, we strongly recommend that you consult many of the resources on the Internet, particularly www.finaid.org.

Do fee waivers, scholarships, and military tuition waivers apply?

  • Fee waivers do not apply.
  • Some scholarships may. Please contact the financial aid office for more detail.
  • Please contact the outreach office you are enrolling through for more details.

Billing

How will I be billed for my classes?

  • Once the distance learning office receives and processes your registration form, you will receive an e-mail confirmation and we will bill your bursar account. Your bill will not show up on your bursar account until the first week of class. If you enroll after classes start, then your account should be billed two or three days after your registration form has been processed.

When will I be billed?

  • Outreach courses generally are billed the first week of class. However, know that sometimes your outreach courses are billed after the first week of class. In such cases, students may receive their financial aid before their Outreach courses have been billed. You are responsible for paying your Bursar bill. Examine your Bursar account carefully to determine whether your online courses have been included and please budget your finances accordingly.

Will I receive a bill in the mail from the bursar?

  • No, the bursar no longer sends out paper bills. You will receive an e-mail from the bursar, or you can check your account by logging in to SIS.

How do I know what my balance is on my bursar account?

  • You can view your bursar balance by logging in to SIS

How do I pay my bursar bill?

  • You can pay by phone – (405) 744-5996 – with MasterCard, Discover or American Express or you can mail your payment to OSU Bursar, 113 Student Union, Stillwater OK 74078-1014.
  • Visa is not accepted.
